Multiple Kinds of Numbering

In the container formats, many different items can have numbering, and Word tends to treat them as different things. There are three different kinds:

The "kinds" determine the behavior of the three types. It may be worth noting that in Word versions 6 and above, a bulleted list and a numbered list are actually the same thing: only the "number format" is different.
